Description

In 2021, Leedana embarked on a pioneering journey into the world of sandponics, fueled by the vision of revolutionizing agricultural practices. Based in Montreal, the first-ever pilot project unfolded as a collaboration between Leedana, a team of innovative engineers from the University of Montreal. The objective was clear: to explore the untapped potential of sandponics, a system promising substantial water savings, energy efficiency compared to conventional methods, and the ability to cultivate over 30 different vegetables in the same sand. The experiment proved to be a resounding success, setting the foundation for the establishment of Leedana in Montreal. With a mission to accelerate the adoption of sandponics on non-arable land with limited water resources, Leedana emerged as a early advocate in sustainable and resource-efficient farming practices.
